Lying to yourself

{ Posted on Thursday, April 29, 2010 by Sadid }
Sometimes, we just don't realize that we are lying coz sometimes the ones we are lying to is ourselves.

The Prophet once said,
Mankind will not perish till they make excuses for their conduct to themselves,
Mishkat

Sometimes, we do think that we are doing the right thing while it's clearly not, well that's certainly our ego being the better part of us.

Since the winter term started, I've only been into ENCMP 100 class twice. In case you don't know what that class is all about, it's about C++ programming. To be honest, I really don't like that subject even before it started (now that is certainly a bad sign) , after the first class, I found the lecturer to be sooooooooo boring, thus makes the subject even more annoying (at least to me). Then, it doesn't took much for my friends to say, "let's us don't ever go to this class ever again" to make me feel so happy~~

But, the thing is I don't even have any basic for the subject, I know I should go to class but I choose not to, and that feeling feels grows more and more as I was able to do the first two assignment on my own. As time past, things are getting harder, even my friends with basic in this subject can't handle it (that makes me....even worse). Long story short, the final exam was today, I had 4 days to study for it, and had no clue what I'm studying (seriously). What more can I say? I know I can prevent this, but I chose the wrong decision that time.

Anyways, it takes all that for me to really understand about people lying to themselves. For me, it's good enough that I realized it, and hopefully I can improve myself on my shortcomings.

Being good

They said that being good is one thing, but doing good is everything.

The Prophet once said,
A believer never gets satisfied doing good until he reaches Jannah,
Tirmidhi

High achieving students will never stop studying as they never feel satisfied that what they have learned is sufficient for them. They will not limit themselves! They will go all the way, studying day and night, even skipped lunch and dinner altogether. Even if they are prepared, they feel like they could know more. Or for another reason is that, they just love studying.

Well, similar thing should and must apply in the case of a Muslim with good deeds. They love to please Allah and enters His Jannah. Plus, they will certainly feel afraid that the deeds they have prepared may not be sufficient, so they keep on doing things that will please Allah.

A borderline of just passing shouldn't be our aim because one could easily make a mistake and end up failing, ever heard of " shoot for the moon, if you missed, you might hit the stars" (something like that). Let us all aim high!

Have you been doing good today?

LOVE ?

Bismillah

Jabir (radi Allahu anhu) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) saying, "If a person mentions the Name of Allah upon entering his house or eating, syaitan says addressing his followers : ' you will find nowhere to spend the night and no dinner.' But if one enters without mentioning the Name of Allah, syaitan says (to his followers) ; ' you have found a place to spend the night in.' And if the person does not mention the Name of Allah at the time of eating, syaitan says : ' you have found a place to spend the night in as well as food.' "

Sometimes, when we're just too excited, we tend to forget things that are important to us. Like for me, I guess I was too excited with my blog (when I first started it) that I've never address this blog officially in the Name of Allah. Well, it's never too late right?
